"the person to whom I had responded was making statements that indicated he might well be lumping Arabs and Arab countries together"

Post the statement that lead you to believe that. I read back and saw NOTHING that suggested this other than your opening statement.

"It IS a mistake to view all Arabs as having a single agenda, is it not?"

No question. But it is wrong to put that position on somebody else so you can make a point. The poster was very specific about the Islamic radicals within the Arab population, and that is why I called you on YOUR statement. You could have corrected me with your 1st response if you pointed out where the poster stated this. I will retract my critique if you can back up your position that the poster feels that all Arab are the same.

"I don't believe that my arguments rested solely on the conviction that he had categorically lumped all Arabs together"

They may not have, but you opened your argument with that statement. And you used it partially at least to support your position I believe.

"It seems as though you are only looking for an excuse to ignore viewpoints that contradict your own."

This is COMPLETELY false. I came to this thread wanting to discuss political positions honestly and thoroughly. Unfortunately I learned very quickly that it is more of a name calling board. Since I have not found very many on the left that do want to discuss viewpoints honestly or accurately I mainly come here to point out holes in arguments I oppose to see if they stand up. You are making a solid effort, but have not convinced me of the accuracy of your statement (although it does appear you are not purposely lying). Again I will retract my statement if you can show where the poster stated (or left the impression) that he views all Arabs as having a single agenda.
