My goodness...I come back in the AM and the diatribes are still flying...sorry Jim...I'm far more interested in the economic discussions, but I need to post one last response to this nonsense...

First, I am to assume wstera 02 has thrown me into the lot of that "....bastion of left wing, anti-republicanism & anti-Bushites...."

Well, I voted for Bush and his Dad and Reagan...I grew up in a family that did not vote with the party, rather, the individual...my father is a retired Navy Captain, a decorated Veteran of four wars (if you include the Cold War)...he enlisted two days after Pearl Harbor, served in both theaters...he was navigator aboard first LST (fisrt ship) to land at Inchon (no where that is..??)...He was in the Gulf of Tonkin when the so called "incident" happened (read about it, we started our bombing campaign afterwards, and killed thousands, lost thousands...the people there said it never happened...hmmmm)...he provided gunnery support off the coast...and finally in the Med for his final years playing dangerous cat and mouse with the Soviets...

I listen to him, and his retired buddies...they all agree...this Iraq thing is a farce, a massacre, and has no end game...something they were very familiar with in prior 'wars'...mind you...these guys are the most supportive you will see when it comes to the troops over there...they just wish they were not there at all...they shared how they felt to be given orders about something McNamara or Rummy dreamed up in there heads...ask any retired brass how they feel about these guys...you'll be truly enlightened....and remember anyone going for their third star, or more, is politically selected by the senate and the house...they have to play along to get it...read Adm. Moorer's books after he got out...again...you'll be enlightened...

So...my point...I voted for these guys...now I see we have a good man (Bush) being led by people I'm beginning to question...Cheney, Rummy, Perle, and Rove....I don't trust them...and question their true motives...it's ashame...Wstera...you appear to be a good guy...but your approach to looking at things in black or white terms is not a good way to go through life...I agree with you regarding liberation of an oppressed people...I just don't think that was the primary motive...nor WMD...all good things to go after...but...

Well...let's look back in 3-5 years and see what actually happened...until then...be careful...all the folks on this thread are as patriotic as you...we may decide to disagree with your views...what a wonderful country this is to do so...I'm hoping we can keep it that way...OK...

Now...where's the $$ at...??
