crusty, on the DOW breaking higher & Gold

Now I can understand why you might think Gold would rally if the dollar went down, but rally if the DOW rises...interesting contrary thinking...type from you that always leaves me pondering. Reasoning being that economic recovery is inflationary ... bullish for all stocks???

Ok I can bite into that....SARS, however, is really putting the brakes on in Asia....GDP in that area won't be what was expected just a few weeks ago. I suspect we'll see rather universal or at least global reports of consumer slow down before any sustained pickup takes hold.

A weaker dollar and deflation likely won't lead to any astonishing rallies in metals.

What is some concern to me is more in the juniors of what we saw today. There is some risk in being in these dead issues in downtrends.

Currently, as expressed, I'm moving to the thought that with everybody (almost) expecting something to happen that nothing much will for months. A dead period for most investments other than special situations....Good time to follow the new high list, perhaps.

Crusty, Dow's Weekly downtrend at 8500

stockcharts.com[l,a]dacayiay[dc][pc50!c200!c20][vc60][iUf!Uc9!Ug!Lb8!Lh14,3!Ll14!La12,26,9]&pref=G

The spark for gold's next move.....a move above the weekly downtrend?? Spark that pushes it lower or carries it higher??? Look forward to your reply.....it will be an interesting wait to see what does transpire.

Don't think the dollar is going to fall fast, but rather ease on down....Once more earnings are out of the way the market will start to focus ahead. Out there somewhere I suspect they'll be seen a recovery.

8500+ Dow - a point well worth watching.
