At least 10 people have been killed and scores wounded in shooting in Mosul in northern Iraq, a hospital doctor said, as other witnesses alleged United States troops had opened fire. Three witnesses questioned by AFP and casualties who spoke to hospital staff said US troops had fired on the crowd which was becoming increasingly hostile towards the city's new governor, Mashaan al-Juburi, as he was making a pro-US speech. Who cares? These people are not even Americans for god's sake. Do you get the feeling we're in some kind of time warp from the mid 20th Century - or even earlier? It's my belief that the US military with its trigger-happy culture of Hollywood posturing and ethos of brute force is perhaps the worst-suited army in the western world for this kind of work. Send in the UN or this will be repeated.
