I don't think they ONLY want the black vote, so they structure their political machine to prevent their segment of the black community (the illiterate low-income blacks) from actually taking over. They want the vote without paying the price, which is control of the party. That is what gave rise to the Sharpton popularity, and explains why he threatens the survival of the Democrats.

While I see the illiterate, low-income segment of the black community as being swindled, manipulated, and held in utter contempt by white Democrats, the fact remains that those blacks have long since earned the right to own and operate the Democrat party-for better or worse. I believe the collection of that huge bill will be the premier characteristic of the party's hopeless presidential race in the 2004 political season.

One principle that the Democratic party has managed to forget: If you LIVE by racism, you DIE by racism...
