Dolinar, memantine is still in introductory stage and not yet available, an NMDA antagonist working in CNS, NMDA activity being highly toxic/destructive to neurons including cholinergic ones important in genesis of Alzheimers...Avodart is entirely another drug that blocks DHT (dihydrotestosterone, a major active metabolite of testosterone in periphery, two subtypes, DHT1 and DHT2. one type blocking prostate enlargment (results of actual prostate SHRINKAGE over 9 months of use) the other type blocking DHT activity at hair follicle causing male pattern hair loss. The company cannot advertise that as a use as it has not been approved but many of us MD's over here in States are giving it off-lable (legal but not FDA sanctioned) for patients wanting hair loss prevention benefits. Reluctant as I am even at my age of 60 to venture personal observations I must say that Avodart is working amazingly well after only four months of personal use in reducing number of times in night getting up to do urinary business, i.e., the stuff is working as sold as advertised. I wil probably never need a TUR!
Too bad Merz is privately held, but then so is BECHTEL which I would give my left nut to own in significant quantity (lol)
Off to work, will be past your bedtime in Deutchland when I return to this font of wisdom at my day's end.
