Just to add some more details to the Mosul incident -

The US military has claimed that they were firing at the building because of some sniper fire.

I suspect that that caused the falling glass which was mis-interpreted by an already angry crowd who then responded with stone throwing. And led to the subsequent firing into the crowd by whoever (us, them, bodyguards...)

If nothing else this demonstrates how volatile the situation in Iraq is and just how vulnerable it is to exploitation by the various elements that oppose the US agendas (both real and perceived).
...I just hope that this incident is the exception and not repeated anytime soon.
