'let's give them a billion $ and help them set up a gun registry. - lol ... with a call centre in New Brunswick, and a phone maze in french that takes forty-seven minutes for discovery of its infinite circularity

I have tended to see Reform as the closest to a viable alternative, ever since they first started ... early on in this thread i tell a couple of stories, or maybe on the winter thread .... there was promise there, and in seeing them deal with one impending evil i was most impressed with certain individuals, for one of whom i have since voted ... on economic issues, no one comes closer to speaking for me .... which is not to say they're anywhere near ideal, just closer, and you're right, the way to improve that is to get inside and do your best to wiggle the party in the right direction

But - you need some sort of hope, some indication of the possibility of knocking back the tendencies you don't like .... and on two major issues i see no sign that they understand what it means to be canadian - softwood lumber, and foreign policy

With goods rolling north into this province without any tariffs whatsoever, the products of our forestry communities should not be penalised, period

Canadian foreign policy should be set in Ottawa, according to canadian principles and interests, period ... we are internationalists by principle, and in no way do our interests lie in handing off all decisions to a single foreign capital .... we decide, here, as a nation, who we will invade and who we will not invade, and why and when and how, and with whom

Fail to stand on our hind legs on this issue, and we will lose this country .... remember this, Mr Harper, it is the flavour of our time - Oderint dum metuant ... 'let them hate, so long as they fear' ..... canadians wish to remain free, and we do not give a good god damn who hates us for it .... this is no time to be weak - stand firm and they'll send us the Powells, kneel for them and they'll send us the Ragostas
