He forgot anti-american. I didn't forget it; it doesn't apply. I use that term to refer to people who are specifically attempting to thwart the efforts of the United States to defend itself. This would include such people as Baghdad Jim, Hanoi Jane, Ed Asner, etc. -- those who put American interests after Iraqi interests. Eagleburger hasn't done that.

Unless there is something in the context of the quote that softens it, the remark was clearly incompetent, inappropriate, and probably harmful. You, of course, are entitled to your opinion. He forgot anti-american. That's anyone who disagrees with the prevailing "one flew over the coocko's nest" view of the world. With a name like Eagleburger and with his background, they couldn't possibly accuse him of being anti American. However, I would not be surprise if someone starts suggesting that Eagleburger is a little addled.....may be early signs of dementia or Alzheimer's. Eagleburger is refusing to go with the flow and its pissing them off. ted
