To support this idyllic dream, while preventing changes in their social position or salary as a result of wars or government activities they quote the horrors of past wars which if left unfought, would have let Hitler or Hirohito rule the world, and we would all be speaking Japanese or German today. Observe the playing field where they operate- Politics, a most debatable field where nothing can be proved factually and arguments range interminably. Our greatest progress has been made in being forced to change, and to meet challenges. Why is it all the talk negative ? Why do they not observe that genetic engineering can now double crop production and can meet the challenges of increased world population.? Why do they not sense that controlled fusion will one day provide our energy needs. Do they think there is no value of a Space-Station or trip to Mars- which activities require development of many new products or ideas that have enhanced our life styles, created jobs, and gave a sense of direction to many people? All of these activities were originated or supported by various past Administrations whether the leaders were rated to be good or bad. The system works, period. And one reason it does is the freedom of speech which permits everyone to get the bitching off their chests instead of causing a revolution. It is the outrageous, headline-grabbing, exagerations that cause their arguments to fail Sig .
