True. The answers to those questions affects investors, observers and especially citizens in big cities. Besides removing criminality from Washington the only way to boost the economy is to remove these kinds of suspicions.

Even if we take the position that further important facts are unknown, what we do know is gov't officials are doing everything possible to prevent a full investigation, and the Bush crowd is in the thick of it. If so, a cynic might then ask whether they intend to force a declaration of martial law through allowing other terrorist acts to prevent themselves from being questioned.

A couple of other data points

- The CIA agent Spann killed in Afghanistan was named, and his family, wife/son/father put at risk by two CIA publicity releases, against long-standing CIA prohibitions. This helped the publicity and support for the war. The only conclusion is that there was no actual threat to his family as a result of these news releases (two of them two weeks apart). That's a shocking conclusion, because it means they know where the cells are. The further implications are that they are involved in these cells, which has already been admitted in bits and pieces.

- George Bush Senior was calm and smiling the day after 9/11, his main concern speaking before the Petroleum Institute conference seemed to be telling people not to criticize his son for not flying back to Washington right away.

BTW the DOD budget increase anticipated by Wolfowitz/Perle/Rumsfeld/Cheney is closer to $2 trillion over 10 years according to their mid-90's papers. That's comparable to the magnitude of the windfall from successful manipulation of Iraqi oil assets.

>>The whole 9/11 thing stinks to high heavens. And yes, there are people who have benefited greatly as a result of 9/11. <<

The biggest benefit went to whoever sold the put on a couple of airline companies, I read (someone posted an article here on SI) that worldwide, it is estimated at $15 Billion. And it is not that hard to find out who did that? But why the US gov. does not want to find it out?
