excellent, excellent post earlie.

frankly, i do not understand how anyone could have bet the wrong way on crude. once the pieces of the war effort fell into place, (mid march) the direction was quite simply a fait accompli, imo (i do believe we had sufficient operatives within the borders to prevent any large scale sabotage, plus the extensive psy-op campaign)

"cheaper oil"

and the near complete dependence on the american consumer for economic growth...

is it enough to prime the pump as it were?

i have my serious doubts, longer term, but i also think we get a short reprieve as consumer confidence continues to recover....dedicated bargain shoppers that they are <g>

and considering the broad based overcapacity the blue light specials should abound.

:)

thanks for taking the time out of your schedule to put cogency "pen to paper"

No doubt most of us will likely be cowering beneath our desks, shell-shocked by the preceding vertical rallies when it occurs. But as long as one has maintained discipline and not tried to hit home runs, one is likely to survive the period with at least some capital intact. In the follow-on era, some cash plus minimal debt will likely serve one well.

Fantastic advice, Earlie. One of the most important lessons I ever learned was that exposure kills. You want to have enough exposure to participate, but get too much and you hand over your decision making to your broker (the dreaded margin call). Still trying to teach a few students that one.

Thanks for the excellent post! I agree - things are ready for another death roll, but the further along we are in the bear, the higher the risk that we are truly in a minor cyclical bull. Don't think this is it yet, but it could certainly have a month or two left in it.

Thanks again for the update.
