Shallow perspective? How so? Would ignoring the plight of the millions under Saddam be less shallow?
War is not pretty. It is horrible, evil, disgusting and (insert your favorite negative adjective). Sometimes it is just less horrible, evil and disgusting than the alternative.
We all dream of a world in which everyone can just get along and be nice to each other. Until such a world becomes possible, people are tempted to think that the world would be a better place if we just refused to contribute to the violence. That is simply naive and simplistic. The fact is, we have to use violence to combat violence or suffer under it.

I am not saying the Bush administration has been completely truthful about WMD, Al Qaida connections, etc. I am not saying that sectarian violence won't claim another few thousand lives over the next few months or years. I am not even saying Bush had a right under international law to go into Iraq in the first place. I do say that Iraq is far better off now than it was a month ago, and that 0.01% of the population is a price worth paying. I do say that some evil is better than lots of evil.
