You are right. There was a conspiracy. Apparently, there was a conspiracy to move those treasures to the US. In fact, one of the conspirators has apparently admitted that one of the co-conspirators was recuited to post to this very board.

By posting disinformation, the others are able to both hide the whereabouts and names of the real culprits, but also secretly make the millionaire stock traders who read this message board aware of the treasures which will soon be available on Ebay.

This will create a ready market for these treasures far from the prying eyes of the Iraqi authorities.
