But the bigger problem is this situation could easily be repeated over and over if agitators pick this up as a tactic (fire at solders from unruly crowds).

The tactic of causing civilian deaths at the hands of U.S. soldiers in order to enrage the "Arab Street" seems to be losing its effectiveness. You can't manufacture outrage and the tactics have been so transparent they are about as effective as Baghdad Bob saying that the U.S. has no soldiers in Iraq.

Yes, that's the real issue. The perception of the liberator/occupier is very easy to tip towards the latter, regardless of its good will. . Such incidences can prove very easy to ignite.

Perhaps someone should tell American forces on the ground to be a little less trigger-happy when facing crowds they are trying to convince of their good intentions.
