Eventually it doesn't matter a whole lot to my friends and neighbors if I figure out the truth -- I just want to know what kind of country I live in for my own peace of mind and for voting.

Same for me. Unfortunately though, the vast majority do not seem to care enough about weeding through things to get as close to the truth as they can....

It matters because corruption can not be stopped until someone proves it exists. You matter far more than you realize your thoughts aid the future.
