whoever have the power to step in got the highest power

Not really. It is a control mechanism.

By the way, Turks love the army. They love their soldiers. This popularity is in contrast to their resentment towards the police, for example. Ask any Turk and he will prefer the Army over the Police. Because the Army has never overstepped its boundaries, and has always protected the democracy. The few times they used their constitutional right and took the power, they gave it back immediately after order was established, and withdrew in favor of democratic elections. There is nothing you can say against that.

considering that you have strong views on Israel

What strong views? I do not agree with the politics of Sharon. That is hardly "strong views on Israel".

I have many Jewish and indeed Israeli friends, and I totally agree with Israel's right to exist. In my opinion, their current government is going about this existence the wrong way. That's all.

Israel got what is called "Basic Laws" which are considered supreme law of the land.

Based on the Torah. Is that secular at all? how good an example of democracy is THAT, for Muslim countries in the region?

By the way, do you have nothing to say on the preferential treatment of the state towards devout Jews? How is that democratic?
