I read that column in the Post on Monday and was utterly unpersuaded. The basic point in the first couple of paragraphs was fine, but there was no brake on where he took it. Woolly headed, IMO.

Without being that extreme if you got rid of corporate welfare and most form of subsidies and reigned in redistributive spending, and as much of the pure pork as possible, you could keep government spending under control and reduce taxes while reducing or eliminating the deficit.

You left out the most important cut - the military.

Yes, the utility of government does not indicate the appropriate level of government. If it is good to heat the house at 74 degrees, it does not mean it is better to heat it at 100.........
