Well, that's my life experience. I live in the New York City area, so I tend to come across a lot more liberals then conservatives in my daily routines (perhaps it would be the reverse for someone in the heartland). And, I've had friends that were both liberals and conservatives and somewhere in between. And, a pattern has emerged based upon the people that I have interacted with in my life. Liberals tend to be more easy going and conservatives tend to be more overbearing with their opinions.

Just like race. I had a friend say something bad about black people a little while ago. And in all honesty, I have to say that my opinion of someone has nothing to do with their race. Some of the biggest jerks in my life have been white people (literally) and I've met some really cool black people in my life's experience. I had to tell my friend just that. That race is irrelevent. It's the person, not the race.
