the problem with this list, as is often the case when discussing executive compensation, is that there is no performance metric whatsoever.

As a long suffering Apple shareholder I can assure you that Apple would have ceased to exist years ago if not for Jobs and his return to the company. For the first few years he earned nothing at Apple- this is true even if he were granted options then because vesting would have taken some time.

Chambers another one who deserves the highest pay in the country imho.

The Honeywell guy and certainly Tenet healthcare do not belong in the list of the highest paid.

The publication of these lists that just lump all executives together as if *everybody* is a PIG doesn't do the cause of management compensation reform any good.
