I agree. Anyone who knows U.S. history, knows that we have often installed and supported bad guys and instituted regimes that abused human rights and did nothing to stop them (e.g. The Shah of Iran, even Saddam Huessein), so we could suck the country's resources dry. All this chest pounding and propaganda about the U.S. going into Iraq to free the Iraqi people is just pure bunk. I hope the U.S. is turning over a new leaf and suddenly supporting human rights, but I doubt that is the case. I think it has everything to do with the fact that Iraq sits on the 2nd biggest oil supplies in the world and with domestic politics as you suggest. What other dictators are we supporting at this very moment that we decry Saddam's brutal regime?
