Think for a minute what it would be like if there wasn't witholding and everyone had to write a check at the end fo the year ... I also had a good year last year and frankly, had a hard time scraping together cash to pay. If you have a lot of income outside your job, you start to get the idea of how onerous taxes really are -- the lowest rates are firgging crazy. The founding fathers would have taken up arms -- nevermind the debauchery of the currency which is non-stop
