Just heard that a good friend lost his job. Another one has searched and searched for a job for well over a year after being laid off and has exhausted his unemployment benefits (maybe he is not even counted among the "unemployed" now).

Very scary economic scene. No dearth of "pre-approved" credit card offers though! :-((
