I know at the time it appeared that way. But didn't you hear about President Carter's National Security Advisor Zebrinski say in his memoriors recently that we enticed the Soviets into invading Afganhastan, so as to weaken them. Perhaps he's just trying to cover his tracks for a major policy snafu that occurred on his watch?
