<And a good thing, too.>

OK, so you believe in democracy and freedom. And you believe in bringing freedom and democracy to Iraqis. And maybe to Koreans and Iranians and............well, the list is long.

And you believe in elections, and that the people elected should govern. But only if they are the right people, with the right ideas. People who we can get along with, people who are "on the side of modernity". And if the foreign nations where our soldiers have conquered, show an inclination to vote for the wrong people, then they must be helped, to see things correctly. Helped gently, as in Italy after WWII. Or not so gently, as in Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Iran......the list is long. Easy or hard, bribes or threats, gentle persuasion or decades of death squads. Whatever it takes.

Great champions of freedom, these NeoCons. Reminds me of that line from Men In Black, where the housewife complains that an alien has taken over her husband: "It was like he was wearing an Edgar suit". Colonialism, an old idea thought to be extinct, re-animated, all dressed up in a NeoCon suit.
