:-) There is no point in responding to such insults. Having tried, I can see now, there is simply no point at all. If the insults increase- it reflects on the person insulting others, not on the the person being insulted. Anyone who would admire such an individual (the kind who insults others), is an person to be discounted, because their opinion and regard is of no worth at all. The truth is not an objective thing, and where there are many truths, and where people are wedded to their truths in such a way that they don't care what they do to defend them, you will always have such melees- unless you have authority figures. SI Jeff is one such figure- obviously he keeps people from threatening each other, and from really offensive vulgarities. But then the individual moderators can also help keep SI civil. But it's a JOB and you don't get paid for it, so it's no wonder that many people do not attempt to take the job on.
