I must have missed something on the thread, but was it put forth in front of the UN for lifting? First you need to have a government, even if a temporary one, in Iraq. Then someone needs to bring a motion to lift the sanctions against that government. How can it be otherwise?

<<How can the U.N. justify their failure to immediately lift sanctions on Iraq?>>

Cute question - now tell me Cho, have you stopped beating your wife yet? (the proverbial loaded question).
...The cheap answer is that there is no failure to be justified.

More to the point - the war is still on and there is no civillian government to represent Iraq's interests. And Iraq has not been certified to be clear of WMD.

As for immediately - I do not think that Iraq has immediate need of offensive weapons or WMD. Nor are they in a position to start shipping out oil until the power and water are restored. And while there are some dual-use items that they could use in the next few months, right now they just need their basic infrastructure repaired.
...So what's the hurry?

Very simple, read the voting history of the UN members

more difficult, try to figure out why UNSCOM was ended, to be replaced with UNMOVIC,
to be interrupted once again.

And more specifically, try to use more than one single neuron, although dripping of vaseline.

For example, use another neuron dripping of and harboring 1441-WMDs, even a little chlorox cookie??

However, there is no Human Right's law against just having one neuron left nor right, covers
even severly demented variations.

As well as the freedom to freely advertise that barely surviving single one.

Cho, nothing personal, more targeted at what I have followed on US networks during the latest
2-3 days, when the matter of UN sanctions in regards to WMDS has become more relevant.

Additionally as this was "an issue" from before the war was started.

For example, the interview Blix did at or just after that time, the reason I target the US media
and their reporting on the issue.

However, considering those facts, it leaves me with no other possibility that crying or joking
on the stuff.
