Agreed. But look at the enormous pressure that some 'superstars' are under to do just the opposite. Tiger Woods comes immediately to mind. People are constantly on him to take this stance or that. Why not let him decide which stance he wants to take?

Dear Mark: I agree with BOTH your statements, but I am sure YOU will agree that if they in fact offend people, THOSE PEOPLE have the right to TURN OFF the Dixie Chicks or any other entertainer. Now as to who you should listen too in your list, my advice is THE ACCOUNTANT. hehe (I was a CPA). When I moved back to Fla. and took my Drivers Test I scored a perfect score. The lady tester told me she was conducting a survey to see who did the best (ie occupation) on the Fla. Drivers Exam. Told her I was a CPA
she said, "I guessed it CPA's and Engineers always score the highest on this exam, I think its because they are trained to pay attention to DETAILS". Thats a real life story. jdn
