The big question is why the Marines were ordered to leave the museum after they had established a presence and had already stopped looters. If there was a high degree of organisation to the looting then it would seem likely that there was also coordination between the criminals and those who gave the orders to leave the building unprotected. Extensive international investigation is required to get to the bottom of this.
