Boston Communications rallies on strong Q1, new deals(11:30 am ET)
Boston Communications (BCGI: news, chart, profile) is surging more than 25 percent to $18.96 after the company reported better than expected earnings for the first quarter and inked multi-year billing and customer care agreements with four regional carriers. For the three months ended March 31, the Woburn, Mass., firm reported GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) earnings of $3.3 million, or 18 cents per share, including a charge of $915,000, or 3 cents per share, for legal costs. Excluding the charge, the company earned 21 cents per share in the period, 7 cents ahead of the average estimate of analysts polled by Thomson First Call. Revenue jumped 53 percent in the quarter to $23.1 million from $15 million in the same period a year earlier. The company also boosted its outlook for the year to GAAP earnings of 78 to 80 cents per share.
