The Philippines have a large population of extreme, militant and violent terrorists. I wouldn’t call it large, and it’s highly localized. I know a fair bit about Southeast Asian and especially Philippine terrorism, and thread oldtimers will tell you that I’m likely to declaim at horrifying length on the subject at the slightest provocation. I’ll let you off easily on that one. I live way out on the edge of nowhere. It’s certainly among the safest places in the Philippines, and I’d count it among the safest anywhere.
