I agree with Adm Moorer. I just try to prevent past events from clouding my current analysis.. The US really has little option except to support all democracies in the region, which essentially equate to Israel and Turkey. We certainly can't be seen supporting non-democratic regimes who have proposed, or displayed, continuing aggression against a democratic state. We don't have to agree with Israel all the time, and we're damn sure not going to declare war upon them should the truth be made known about the Liberty attack. So what's the point?? The truth should be made known. But it should not be used for political purposes as Adm Moorer seems to be engaged in.

Any coverup of the Liberty incident now resides within the corridors of power in the US government, who possess the real information as to what happened and why. The Israelis can only be expected to cover up, after all. And they paid compensation and apologized.

No one in the public really possesses information that tells the actual reason for the attack. It might have been a mistake. But it also might have been initiated because Israel was hiding something they didn't want US signals intelligence ships to pick up.

Who knows?? All I know is that most of the people living in Israel today, and who are currently in power, had little to nothing to do with that attack. The guilty parties have long ago died or retired.
