Threatening to kill is less offensive than beating up or eating. Big deal! Actually, threatening to kill might be worse than a bit of face-slappy [which we have also heard of]. One should not compare one's ethical standards with the worst. If we raise our sights, we might think of what's possible. George Bush uses his ideas of Christian belief as his guide. Ethics is a high-level idea. Civilized people compare their action with what's possible, not whether it's better than a crocodile or Saddam. Barbarians steal and bully. Aim high, not low and don't be a bully. Bullies are universally disliked. Saddam was quite a bully. Being better than a bad bully is no recommendation. Mqurice

This is a silly point to make, and just wastes the board's time. Of course our military is more principled, upstanding and decent than the Iraqi army, but the difference is, we Americans will question and hold our army accountable for any immoral or unsound act that they perform and you should as well if you are an American who holds true to American principles. There are no excuses for any improper conduct; especially in such a lopsided affair such as this war.
