How to go into space for a profit. Burt Rutan knows. Take a look at his new spacecraft.

Passenger-Carrying Spaceship Makes Desert Debut

The wraps are coming off what is billed as the "First Private Manned Space Program" and a new, never-seen spaceship.

Aggressive work on a passenger-carrying sub-orbital craft has been active and hidden from public view for two years.

Labeled as the SpaceShipOne Project, the unveiling comes courtesy of Scaled Composites, Inc. -- highly regarded as a leader in innovative aircraft development -- and based in the Mojave, California desert, about 80 miles north of Los Angeles.

Noted design wizard, Burt Rutan, is lead maverick of the space project and is the firm's president and chief executive officer. He makes no bones about what's behind the hush-hush project.

You are arguing on a technicality. Dynastic tendencies are ingrained in human psyche and they surface in USA as well as India. And USA has had over 225 years to drown these tendencies. Having money, connections, and a good pedigree is typically not a handicap for political aspirants in any society.

Some credit should be given to Indian leaders such as VallabhBhai Patel who took 565 Princely States in 1947 and through carrot and stick got them under one Republic without much violence in as little as two years. Many of the Royals continue to be elected into the parliament by their former subjects. Their influence has decreased with every decade.

>Neither of whom inherited the job. If you'll notice, the other party was in power for eight years between the Bushes. >

You are onto something here. Kingmakers in USA wish to avoid any overt display of dynastic tendencies. So, George W. Bush could not immediately follow George Bush as a presidential candidate. And Hillary Clinton has to wait her turn.

I don't recall a non-Congress PM in India for a loooong period of time.

Study recent (like last 20 years) Indian Politics please. (Maybe y'all should take a test like I have to for my US naturalization process :-)).
What you call "looong period" is less than 50 years in post independence India. The current government is not Congress.

Ms Indira Gandhi did NOT INHERIT the role of Prime Minister. Put all the spin you want, but the fact is that people in India voted her in, later voted her out and later voter voted her in.

If you recall India's history of struggle for independence from the Empire, you will see that the Congress party was one of the major players in gaining independance. Why does it surprise you that less than 60 years after independence, they are still a major player ?

I dont apologize for the fact that India does not dish out McDonalds style "fast food democracy" (would you like it with super sized fries?) .
