Given vix at this level I find it difficult to believe that leap puts and a little patience would fail to earn a profit. I've also noticed that vix will decline sometimes after a top is in. When the vix hit 50 in october many bears got hosed because they waited for the crash wave that was sure to carry it to 80. Bulls counting on vix 18 or lower might experience a similar fate.

Frank Gannon on Rukheyser is pumping C and CMCSK. He's a portfolio manager for Sunamerica or something like that.

The small spec was short Jul-Sept (generally correct)
Long late dec and early january (correct)
Short all of February thru mid march (hugely correct)
Enormously long since mid-march (enormously correct)

Are we supposed to follow the all knowing small spec?
