t,

I will abide by thread rules as I have stated.

I've actually been milder in my rapport than others on this
thread thus far IMO.

As for my political leanings, they may not be what many
think. I know the perceptions of many are that I'm a right
winger, which isn't close to the truth. I support President
Bush in this war based on what the Administration has said
from the start & what has actually transpired as time has
passed & events unfolded. That does not mean I am in
complete agreement with this Administration & all of its'
policies by any means.

As for political propaganda, it's a sad truth & it's widely
used & parroted by many here on SI. Too bad folks can't see
it for what it is & condemn it rather than embrace it in
support of their political affiliation. IMO, it serves no
useful purpose other than to mislead others for political
gain.

As for distortion, well........

Main Entry: dis·tort
Pronunciation: di-'stort
Function: verb
Etymology: Latin distortus, past participle of distorquEre,
from dis- + torquEre to twist -- more at TORTURE
Date: circa 1586
transitive senses
1 : to twist out of the true meaning or proportion
<distorted the facts>

2 : to twist out of a natural, normal, or original shape or
condition <a face distorted by pain>; also : to cause to
be perceived unnaturally <the new lights distorted colors>
3 : PERVERT

intransitive senses : to become distorted; also : to
cause a twisting from the true, natural, or normal

synonym see DEFORM
- dis·tort·er noun

In most political discussions, distortions are just a fancy
way to lie IMO.
