I am very glad of the emphasis on equality and various basic rights.

so, so much at the very core of liberty...

If it is in a year, after basic services are restored, and everyone is employed in rebuilding, it is possible the hard-line religionists will lose support. After all, they thrive in poverty and oppression.

I agree, SH. And one of the big difficulties is going to be the way the media presents it. Good news is no news, as far as they are concerned. They thrive on controversy. So get ready for night after night of pictures of protesters shaking their fist at the camera, and denouncing the US.

It will get like the Palestinian parody, where protesters show up for the cameramen per prior agreement, and disperse when the lights go off. The Mullahs will do their best to gain power, as will other groups

I thought Rummy was perceptive on this the other day. Some people will join in the new Gov, and others won't. Nothing to get the vapors over. That's life!

I think it will also depend on when the convention is held. If it is in a year, after basic services are restored, and everyone is employed in rebuilding, it is possible the hard-line religionists will lose support. After all, they thrive in poverty and oppression.

Excellent point. A hungry stomach looks for people to blame. A full stomach can afford the luxury of thinking about things beyond survival.
