GW's approvals are 18% lower than his Dad's post war Iraq.
This point was made by Brownstein on CNN last night. He was asked if Bush is vulnerable in 2004. He laughed and says yes, that it was obvious, because his father won an even bigger victory against Iraq and went down because of the economy. GW's economy is worse than his father's and he has no new ideas about how to fix it except the old give tax cuts to the rich scheme which is unpopular and doesn't work (trickle down vs. direct stimulus to consumers).

I think Rove had it backwards last week when he said that terrorism and the economy will be the main issues in the 2004 presidential race. By then it will be the Economy followed somewhere down the line by terrorism. Unless Bush sees fit to start another war in the interim, then all bets are off.
