Thanks for the links Richard,

I follow a certain Washington State runner, Anna Blue who ran a 34+ 10K at the Mt Sac Relays in Walnut Creek. A nice time BTW but not world class yet.. <g> Hopefully..

And that led me to the results of the meet.. And there I seen three American runners that ran the 5K in 13 31 or less.. Looking good..

Watching the Boston today was fun.. Many 5 & 10K runners move quickly into the marathon..

Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya, on his way to winning, ran a 4 39 mile in the 21st or 22nd mile.. How remarkable. I just wonder if the average person knows what such a FEAT that is..

My best time ever for only a 5K was just under 19 minutes and my best for 10K was just over 42 minutes.. A thousand years ago.. Anyway, I am giving away secrets. <g>

But to answer your question, I think distance running is coming back in this country, with the camps and such.. I hope so. You might have heard the interview with Alberto Salazar today, he thought so.. But it takes time..
