Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison didn't operate under very good conditions. Abraham Lincoln's nation was suffering greatly when he wrote the Gettysburg address. Many people in India were starving to death when Ghandi stood up for his ideas. The black people of South Africa lived a unique hell but Nelson Mandela kept his eye focused on ideals.

It was a foreign policy that ignored ideals that led to 9-11.

By all means, the people of Iraq, the US Army, Bechtel, the UN must rebuild Iraq, bring food, water and medicine to people urgently. I have no doubt they will.

I have seen 7 - 8 large, organized protests and marches in Iraq since April 9. The protests weren't about food and water, the protests were about the form and ideals of government in Iraq. It seems ideals matter to them too.
