The next time India is at the brink of war with Pakistan and they back down because of U.S. pressure, I'll keep that in mind. :)

re India becoming the next Bosnia : have no fear - India and Pakistan have a shared culture lasting about 5000 years. US has about 200+ years. kids should not play major league.

Kumar,

Never argue with a 21st century "majority" American concerning their "inability" to engage in the "foreign" pastimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing. <g>

They don't "see" enough remains of the native American culture to remind them of "their" past indiscretions and, despite the corrugated steel fence on our southern border and burgeoning prison populations, they are unable to comprehend the depth of their reaction to a future in which the population swings to a new "majority" of decidedly brown faces. <Hoo>

How this could be is quite beyond me. But mention the phrase "race riot" and your average American - majority or minority - conjures images of black people burning down cities. Yet, it would take at least another century of "long hot summers" before the number of minority initiated "race riots" ever approaches the totals racked up by our current majority bretheren and sisteren. ...I blame television. <g>

Make no mistake "democracy" is no panacea for what ails humanity. It didn't "save" Athens. It won't "save" Baghdad. And it won't save NYC. ...But on the bright side, in an electrified economic world, it will always beat the pants off communism, tribalism, animism, and all your other *.isms. <Hoo><Hoo>
