assuming GM and F employees tend to own, er, have debts on, GM and F vehicles, it seems such a move would greatly increase default rates and eliminate their most loyal group of customers.

misheldo, this is a very difficult question as to many variables are involved, ..... many of which I am not familiar with ..... like the ACTUAL cost of manufacturing in China.

Sorry but I would admit I am clueless on this subject

mish, GM and F combined employ +/- 750k persons. at what are obviously, on average, way above market wages / benefits (thanks to the UAW). ship a lot of their jobs to china, and who the *&%^ is gonna buy GM and F cars??

Detroit is enough of a black hole as it is (after all, their baseball team is, what, 1-16 <g>). at least they can't ship Big Ben Wallace's job to China.

Cheers
