It seems to have been 2 travellers from Hong Kong a while ago resulting in outbreaks in hospitals..and one church. I believe Chinese, Philipino and hospital workers of probably all nationalities. Had read that a couple of family physicians also very ill after seeing patients a while back..I am assuming they are chinese origin.

So far 11 of 14 were over 70 years old you can tell how concerned the doctors are in the press conference about younger patients.
You can watch a press conference at this link. Look at the middle of the page on the right site below the "cbcnewsworld" logo. 8.35 minutes.

Dont' know if you have seen this story but it seems detailed of how it started. Also comments on the persons believed to be "super spreader".

>>Mostly aged over 70, but what else do they have in common?<<

Very religious Philippino Catholics, I am told. My guess is that they shared the same chalice drinking wine during Mass. Older people, not working, probably went to mass together at least once a day. In fact, the news is that they were "members of a religious community," which could mean nuns.

The disease spread further during what they call in the news a "funeral service" but must have been a requiem Mass.

Site with a very detailed breakdown of the cases in Toronto area. Gives details of hospital discharges; ages etc... I noticed that with the exception of a 43year old from HK, the others seems a lot older.

click on the April 19 update. it probably updates daily except during this Easter weekend.

Getting the feeling they will be able to control SARS in Toronto. Virus surviving on surfaces for 24 hours (instead of the usual 2 to 4hours) could have been a big reason for some of the infections.....a fact that they have just learned in the past 2 days.

Interesting theory, Maurice. But how come it didn't come up earlier, if it has legs? Doctors don't have to be PC, and there will be some Nobels at the end of the tunnel.

It might be instructive to pay attention to the "regular" pneumonia mortality figures also. With the US in precarious economic times, I could see multiple reclassifications of people with sypmtoms.
