What would you expect them to say....."to quickly put in place an interim gov't with a view to setting up another dictator"?

The point was there is no consensus for us to "get out" of Iraq as was presented in your biased post. There are isolated individuals who want us out immediately, but it is isolated and atypical.

But there's no question, they want that done as fast as possible

Of course they do. WE do, too. So there is no conflict here.

The Bush administration has been majorly underestimated in this respect. We will be, for the most part, out of Iraq in 18 months. This is not the Clinton-era nation building involving lifetime commitments. This is get in, do the job, and clear out.

EVERYBODY expects this to take years, simply because it always has under other leadership.

Sure, we'll have a presence for years to come. But it will be very, very small -- unlike some of the nightmares of the past.
