Well, personally I think the next great thing is being happy... whether it's a stable, cushy 'chair farter' job, or scrapping like an entrepeneur. I don't know how peoples minds work, I could imagine being happy no matter what I do, so I'm not a good person to ask.

Funny you should say that. I had a roommate way back when I lived in CA who was a native Californian. She swore to me that the companies in CA had a prejudice for hiring people from the East because they had this ingrained idea that people from the East were "work" oriented and people from the West Coast were "lifestyle" oriented so that the person from the East would work harder to the detriment of their personal life, whereas the Californian would never let a job get in the way of their sailboarding or whatever. I thought her idea was pretty funny and a pretty broad generalization that wouldn't really hold up under examination.

I think everyone is actively involved in the pursuit of happiness, but sometimes they are confused or don't really know what it is that will make them happy.
