I mean really understand how physical/biological world works. There is room for everyone to do that, some are likely to be more efficient at it than others. Bit liked trained athletes vs. some guy in Kenya who runs around after his cattle and with training could be world beating and is like the amateur who has the great discovery. There is a tendency among the scientific community to ignore contributions that are not stated in a way that they understand. I guess becaues most are rubbish and we are all busy it isn't usually worth the time to try to understand them.... What I find stranger is the tendency to say that something is "not interesting" because it doesn't seem to fit the paradigm or be fashionable to do research on. I've had that said about my research by some journals. I got it published somewhere else some times. And then there is plenty of stuff that is just plain wrong. We know much better what is obviously wrong than what might be right of course :)
