It's a stupid non-story. Kerry "missed" a funeral, so what? He either wasn't invited, couldn't make it, didn't hear about it, didn't know the people or whatever.

Bush is not any funerals for Texas KIA's. Not one. If he does go to one it will be for a photo op and because it's convebnient for him. Because Karl Rove tells him to. Besides, funerals are private family functions. If Kerry knew the soldier well he'd be there. If it were a memorial for all the fallen Masachusetts heros he'd be there. But if he did go to the funeral of someone he didn't know you'd be accusing him of trying to look patriotic by crashing someone's funeral party.

Drudge is mostly Sludge. He's highly partisan right-wing and desperate to find some way of libeling Kerry. He has nothing so he lies. About the haircut price, the lady in Iowa who didn't exist. With the help of the RNC of course.

They're terrified of Kerry beating Bush and for good reason. They're trying to smear Kerry's character ASAP before the race begins and Kerry exposes Bush as the AWOL deserter president posing as a military macho man, and domestic failure.
