Syria occupies Lebanon

I've been hearing a lot of this talk lately. I'm not saying that Lebanon is part of Syria, but its not that different. If France chose to divide its mandate into two regions, that doesn't mean there really are two countries. Is England occupying Wales? For a very long time Syria and Lebanon were part of the same political entity. People in Damascus would go to the coast and didn't view themselves as going to a foreign country. I'm sure having Syria and Lebanon as separate countries increases Israel's security, but it's not up to Israel or the US to make that decision. Its up to the people that live there - with no outside interference.
