There is racism in California?? Gasp!!

I'm actually hopeful that racism ends in the next 50 years or so based on the melting pot we have here. Just a dream though.

50 years, maybe.

England has had a significant Indian, Pakistani and West Indian population for several decades. Large-scale immigration was greatly reduced in the last 20-30 years, and much of the non-white population is converging culturally with the majority population (many of whom are Italian [Roman], German [Engels and Saxons] and French [Norman] "liberators" from 1-2 millenia ago).

I'm told things are a lot better than they used to be, but there are still severe inequalities. 10% of the adult male non-white population is currently in prison, according to news reports last week, and I don't think that's because they start their lives as bad people.

Dunno if you saw "Bend it Like Beckham" at your local Indie cinema yet, but that looks to me like a pretty good depiction of the cultural transitions still going on. I want to see it, anyway.
