There is plenty of things that should be changed in the middle eastern cultures. And I think it is always good to have cultural exchanges. The key here is the timespan and the magnitude of the change. I think the comparison to ecosystem is a good one. Humans have indulged in changing nature forever. So long as the environment has had time to "ponder" and adapt or incorporate the changes, the results have been accesptable to quite good. But anytime we have brought about rapid change, even when it has been towards something desirable like removing pests or insects, we have caused greater problems in the process. This is a view I hold about all major social changes and not just religion.
